As Alhambra succumbs to over-development, our city's green canopy is rapidly disappearing as seen in the high altitude photos below. High-density development typically involves the removal of trees and landscaping to maximize the amount of buildable units. Because the City has neither tree protection ordinances, or requirements for landscaping (at the least, discourages the removal of trees), Alhambra is becoming a heat-generating city requiring significant dependence on energy resources.

These high altitude photographs of Alhambra, compared with the adjacent communities of South Pasadena, Pasadena, San Marino and San Gabriel, clearly shows Alhambra as a grey and barren landscape, while surrounded by other cities' abundant greenspace.
