On November 19, 2007, two members of the Alhambra Preservation Group spoke before the City of Alhambra's Planning Commission voicing their opposition to the planned demolition of a 1922 bungalow located at 425 S. Fifth Street. The owner(s) want to raze it to build 2 large ''big-box'' (as described by the Planning Commission) structures.

APG President Oscar Amaro and Vice-President Chris Olson gave several justifications on its preservation such as out-of-character design and the destruction of the property's open space. Ms. Olson's comments can be read here and Mr. Amaro's here.
